The daughter of the Dragon King falls in love with Xuanzang and takes him to her father's underwater palace. The other disciples must rescue him.

The travelers must pass through a mountain that is on fire. They are able to do so by using a special herb.
Chapter Eleven: The Red Boy
The group encounters the Red Boy, son of the bull demon king, who proves to be a formidable opponent.

Chapter Twelve: The Pilgrims Reach India
After enduring numerous trials and tribulations, the travelers finally arrive in India and obtain the Buddhist scriptures. They return to China and Xuanzang is able to translate the texts into Chinese.
